What ever happened to....

LILLO BRANCATO???
This name may not sound familiar but maybe Calogero or "C" is more familiar. LILLO played 17yr old Calogero in A Bronx Tale. I just saw this movie on TV and something about LILLO's character Calogero stood out to me. Maybe it’s that cute Italian guy thing or that he was interested in a black girl who knows all I know is I hadn’t seen him in recent movies and wondered what he’d been up too. I do this from time to time if I'm watching a movie and see an actor that I haven’t seen in a while I get curious about what they’re doing so being the google queen I am I googled him.



After A Bronx Tale he appeared in other movies and TV as well as 6 episodes on the Sopranos but sadly I also found out that he is doing 10yrs in Rikers Island. Robert De Niro told him to be careful in this industry. What to watch out for and just tried to give him guidance. But of course when we are young we think nothing can happen to us and he shook off De Niro words. He started using drugs and in a robbery attempt an off duty police officer was killed. He was acquitted of the murder but sentenced for the robbery. I hate hearing stories like this.



In an interview he says he regrets not taking De Niro’s advice. I just hope when he gets out he surrounds himself with positive people.

READ IT OR SHELF IT???

Those that know me have heard me talk about the book I'm writing. It started off as fun but for the past couple of years I've been really working on getting it ready to be published. I've been going back and forth about self pulishing or going through a publishing company. I am still praying about it and waiting for my answer but in the meantime I am still working. Below is what I am putting on the back cover of the book. Your input is more than welcome. I want to know if what you read will peek your interest to read more. So my question is would you READ IT OR SHELF IT???


Jay Fine is a well known actor and talented singer looking for love and he'd do almost anything to find it even if it means falling for a married woman who he believes is his soul mate.

Mina Harris is an aspiring screenwriter who has the perfect family on the outside, but on the inside something is missing. She knows her husband Terry loves her but the passion she desires is not there.

As Jay and Mina's paths cross will they be able to resist the temptations they are faced with or will one night together ruin it all?

What I'm reading

Haven't read in a while but the last book I did read was "The Last Bad Decision" by Paula Edwards. This book almost had me in tears. Without giving too much away, it's about a guy named Chauncey and his struggles living in Los Angeles. He makes a lot of bad decisions but he's tired of his lifestyle and ready for a change but his boy Rondell is not too happy with his sudden change in attitude.

I truly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed.

Shout out to the Paula Edwards who gave me some helpful advice in how to get my book out there she is very geniune and I wish her nothing but success in all she does.

Music that moves me

Have you ever heard a song and was like "that's my song" then throw your hands up and start singing or dancing or both. I know I have numerous times. But then there are some songs that touch me a deeper than a dance for what ever reason. Could be a memory of a previous love or just a previous time in my life but whatever the reason whenever I hear certain songs I have to stop, listen, close my eyes and just let the music take there. I feel like I'm telling on myself too much but anyhoo here's a few for now.......

OK guys I thought I was up on everything.....

but I guess not because I just found out that Tony Thompson from HI-Five died of an overdose in 2007 from huffing freon. I am so sad by this news. My eyes are literally watering as I'm typing this. I loved this group so much and I especially loved Tony's voice. Again this may be old to some but it's new to me and it hurts.


I will never understand what goes on in the mind of entertainers with such talent that feel they need that extra "something" to get them through. I'm in no way judging him or putting him down it's just a real sad situation of another talent gone to soon at the hands of drugs. He was 31.

What is this world coming to????

I was looking at 106 and Park and Rocsi's story really broke my heart but after the show was over I was sort of pissed. What is wrong with society today? How did we get so hung up on looks? We really have things twisted. I mean what happened to someone being signed to a label because they could sing and not what they look like first, then their talent. I think about The Temptations, The Dramatics, The Stylistics and The Delfonics just to name a few, these guys could really sing and some of them weren't what some people would think of as handsome but they had talent.



Now people are trying to conform to an image that is literally killing them. I think about these people getting all this plastic surgery. For what?? To keep a job?? To look younger?? Don't get me wrong I joke around about it but I'm too chicken to purposely cause pain to myself when I don't have to. I will tell anyone going through this....LOVE YOURSELF....LOVE WHO YOU ARE.....LOVE WHAT GOD HAS MADE YOU TO BE!! I know this sounds easier said than done but if you practice speaking positivity in your life believe me you will feel better about yourself. I'm speaking from experience. I suffered with self esteem issues as a teen like most but after finding out what God said I am, I love me, I love my faults, I love the little awkward things about me because these things make me an original there is no one like me and I like that. :-)



So please remember it's not what you look like on the outside the real you is on the inside so let people see the real you and I guarantee they will love you and you will love yourself.

Chico Debarge is back..........his album Addiction came out July 14th. As you may know he's had a few obstacles to overcome but I'm really pushing for him.

Also AL B SURE.......his album Honey I'm Home came out June 23rd and it includes a remake Michael Jackson's Lady in my Life. I have to admit I was skeptical about hearing it but I was impressed because Ne-yo killed it on the BET Awards and not too many people can sing Michael and do a good job. You go Al B!

Is there a difference between 'Good Music' and 'Bad Music' or is it a matter of opinion...

This was a question asked on twitter. If you didn't know, now you do, I'm a twitterholic. Don't judge me I'll get help when I'm ready....but back to the topic, Is there a difference between 'Good Music' and 'Bad Music', I think it's a matter of opinion. There are different types of music for different types of people no one person can truly say what music is bad or good. Just like the saying, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it's the same with music. I may have to listen to a song a few times before it starts sounding good to me, or it may never sound good to me but that doesn't mean it's bad music.

I am saying all this to say there is no such thing as 'Bad Music' because somebody somewhere is going to like it.

My Writings

As I said in my first post, one of the things I like to do is write. I've been keeping it on the dl for a while but if I plan to get serious about it I know I need to share it. The only thing I'm worried about is someone stealing it and making it their own. So what I will do is send you some fan fiction that I have been writing on a fan site forum I belong to. For those of you who don't know what fan fiction is it's when you write your own fictitious story based on a movie, or celebrity. The celebrity I have chosen to write about is the R&B group Brutha.

The only way I will do this is if I receive your comments telling me you'd like to see my writings. I will post them in a different blog but it will all be based on your response so let me know!!!!!

The BET Awards

What can I say I'm still high from some of the performances. This show was filled with so many surprises. How awesome for New Edition to open up with the tribute to the Jacksons all six of them!! Then the other highlight of the night was BBD, Guy and Keith Sweat. I am going to have to look at that whole section again I was screaming so loud. And oh my lawd where did they find Tevin Campbell.

The tribute to the O'Jay's was so classy. Tyrese, Trey Songz and Johnny Gill were flawless. I really liked their performance. I also like Ne-yo performing "Lady in my Life" I tell you I almost lost it. I also liked when Tyrese and Taraji did the scene from Baby Boy but didn't Ving Rhames scare the crap out of you. I know he did me. I also enjoyed Maxwell.

Overall I liked all the performances but a few left a question mark in my head. No disrespect to Beyonce but did she forget she was performing at the BET Awards. I mean her vocals were on point I just didn't know where she was going with the whole "Ava Maria" thing, maybe someone can help me out because I am lost and her outfit sort of strange. I think Ciara should've sang a different song, again no disrespect I just wasn't liking that song for her. I enjoyed Drake but when everybody and their mama started coming out on stage it took something away from the performance. I know he hurt his ACL and maybe thought he needed help but that was too much!!

"If everything happens for a reason why do babies die and kids get hurt?"

I know I said we will have fun on this blog but this question was asked on twitter and it got me to thinking. To answer this question I will say a few things. Not to sound heartless because it does break my heart when I hear about a child getting hurt or abused in any kind of way but we have to come to the realization that this world is full of sin and sin plays a big part. Also God allows things to happen to sometimes get our attention to let us know He still is God or maybe to get us to realize we need Him more than we think.

I could of asked God why did he allow my mom to die from cancer but I didn't only because I believed he would take care of us in it. Don't get me wrong it took me a minute to get here and I still miss her like crazy but I believe her purpose was served. I could of asked God why did he allow my dad to die when I was a teenager and never get to see his grandkids but I didn't. I could of asked this question when a woman dear to me got shot down and killed in front of her house for protecting her family when she wasn't even the target but I didn't. Again not that I wasn't hurt by these things it's just I know God has a plan. I may not see it at the time and I may never see it but I have to believe something good will come from this all.

No one likes to go through hurt or see someone they care about get hurt or die. I'm sure if we were God we would let no child get hurt or killed or anyone we love for that matter. But our ways are not His ways and our thoughts are not His thoughts. His methods may seem cruel but we have to trust and believe that He has our best interest at heart.

Just my opinion.

Who could not love this smile. I've always liked Trey Songz's music but now I am really feeling him has an artist. He has so much passion and drive you can't help but to love him. The boy can sang, too. His mixtape game is out of this world and he really loves his fans. Cant wait for his album to drop August 4th...YUUUP!!!

Seriously brought tears to my eyes. Their album is in stores and the second album is to drop later on this year. I really heart these guys!!!

Drake is awesome. I love is style and how he incorporates his rap skills with his singing skills. If you haven't heard is music check him out on myspace and youtube I guarantee you wont be disappointed. And yes peeps this is Jimmy from Degrassi!!

I am so excited about Maxwell's return. I almost died when I saw him walk out at the BET Awards. I was screaming my little heart out. As you can tell I like me some Maxwell. I previewed some of his album and you can hear the maturity in the lyrics. It has a mellow feel to it something you can sit back and listen to on those day you just want to rest and reflect. I'm so deep...LOL. Album drops July 7th. I think they tryna bring light-skinned back yall.....hahaha!!!

My sisters say I talk to Jamie Foxx

My sisters who will remain nameless(LOL)have an on going joke about me talking to Jamie Foxx. Let me clear the air. It was a slip of the tongue, instead of saying "Jamie Foxx said he...," I ACCIDENTALLY said, "Jamie Foxx told me...," and every since then they have been telling everybody they can I talk to Jamie Foxx. So if you know us and happen to hear this story now YOU KNOW THE TRUTH!!!!!!!

I will admit I was sort of into him during the Unpredictable and Miami Vice days and I may have joined his fansite and googled him a few times but it was just because I wanted to know more about him. It wasn't like I was hiding in trees with binoculars watching him eat breakfast in the nude or anything. It's just when I like an artist I like to know as much as I can about them is that wrong?

"Firsts"

I was talking to a friend a couple of weeks ago and realized that the past couple of years have been alot of "firsts" for me. My mom passed in Jan of 2007 and I didn't think I would make it but with God, prayer, my family and friends I did. After losing her I thought alot about my life and what I was going to do with it.



We have all heard the sayings, life is short, tomorrow's not promised, you only have one life to live, so I made up in my mind to enjoy this life I have, not sweat the small stuff, laugh as much as I can and not let fear or negativity keep me from it.



I went on my first cruise (even though I can't swim) to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and boy did I have fun, I mean fun!!!!! I went camping for the first time, I know a sista in the woods hella funny, but it was awesome I went on a speed boat and a jet ski. Now all I gotta do is conquer my fear and get my tail on a plane...LOL!!
